Transformation Story: Tabbetha Koslofsky

This month we are excited to announce our featured transformation story:

Tabbetha Koslofsky.

Tabbetha has been a regular part of root's tribe ever since we opened our doors last year! She comes consistently and is always quick to offer support and encouragement to others. Tabbetha has made so many strides!!

Last holiday season was the first in many years, that Tabbetha was able to breath through the normal seasonal-stressors that go along with being a full-time working mom, sister, friend, and wife. She was able to enjoy the holiday season and be present in a way that had escaped her in the past. As her trainers, Jenn and Cathy have seen amazing growth in what she can do physically.

She is always willing to try new things and is quick with a joke or a kind word. Come into the studio and meet Tabbetha ~ you are guaranteed support, encouragement, and a good laugh!

I had a chance to ask Tabbetha some questions about her journey, here are her answers:

What got you started on your journey?

Aerial yoga! I had never heard of it, but it was popping up in my social media and my friend, Cindy, mentioned that she knew a trainer that offered it. We signed up and I met Jenn. From there, I also tried one of Jenn’s circuit training classes and really liked the vibe of the instruction and how I felt after the workout (exhausted, but good).

Other than the intro to aerial yoga, the other factors were age, stress and anxiety. With 40 on the forefront, I needed to do something to take better care of myself.

What was the biggest barrier to your success and how do you attempt to overcome it?

Making the time. I like being able to sign up for classes on an app weeks in advance and sticking to my schedule – the app holds me accountable for making the time.

What is your favorite workout?

It’s hard to pick a favorite because Cathy and Jenn are continuously expanding the workout portfolio. I have found benefits to each class – from Aerial, Aerial Yoga, Grit n Grace Aerial, Yoga Foundations, Hard Core rootcamp, rootPowerhouse, Pilates – they are all different and even each session is different. My latest venture is with Ashtanga influenced yoga – there is always something new – and I love that because they say you cannot improve by doing the same thing over and over again. And…don’t forget about SUP, I even have my own board now!

What do you think is the key to your success?

Consistency, making the time for these workouts helps my work/life balance, promotes self-care and improves my physical, mental and emotional health. It also gives me social time – the ladies at root, from the instructors to those working out, create an environment that you look forward to spending time in – these workouts can be intense, and it helps to have positive influences around you, encouraging you. It’s also the whole package root offers, it’s not just a workout, it’s also education, nutrition and support.

What’s one your next goals?

To continue to try new things and to remain consistent, to continue to take time for myself. I came across this and it really resonated with me “My goal is not to be better than anyone else. My goal is to be better than I used to be.”

If you could share a piece of advice to someone trying to get started what would it be?

Please make the time to take care of yourself. We all have crazy things going on in life – spouses, kids, work, extracurricular activities – but in order to be the best you - mom, wife, friend, employee – you have got take care of yourself before you can effectively take care of everyone else. My husband can attest to the fact that root has improved my whole outlook – holidays have always been hard for me, couldn’t wait to get through them. This past Christmas I had music playing, loved decorating, enjoyed shopping…the whole package! My husband looked at me one day and said what is going on – I looked at him and replied, I don’t know…then it dawned on me! A consistent year of putting my self-care first, by taking classes and workouts at root, made me a happier person. I wasn’t sulking and depressed for the holidays! Life is hard, but having a healthy outlet, positive attitude and a great group of workout friends that support you, sure do make the days a lot better!

Addition Comments or anything you would like to add?

Thank you doesn’t seem like enough, I am so grateful for the hard work and dedication Cathy and Jenn have put into root – and all the instructors – I cannot see myself without this tribe!

So, take some notes from Tabbetha- CONSISTENCY and making time for yourself are so important to really making progress towards our goals!

Congratulations Tabbetha- you are an inspiration.

Who will we choose next month...will it be you?
