Healthy Snacks for the Fourth of July
Looking for a snack or dessert idea that is festive AND heathy? You are in luck- berries make for great snacking or sweet desserts and their bright, gorgeous colors will pop on any Fourth of July table. I made my fruit flag with blueberries, strawberries and chopped up honeydew (I know, that's green, but it's hard to find white fruit....angel food cake or marshmallows would work too but I was going for straight up healthy choices this year).
In just a few quick minutes you have this appetizing plate ready to share with your family and friends. Heathy food does not need to be complicated, expensive or fussy. Sometiem the simplier the better- let the sweet natural yumminess of these summer fruits sing and give you more time to relax and enjoy your holiday!
If you want a few other quick, easy holiday ideas here are some links to a few of my favorite ideas:
Simple Summer Sangria from Carrots 'N' Cake
Grilled Zucchini with Tomato-Mint Relish from Eating Well
Cucumber Summer Salad- from Root SUP & Fitness
Roasted Corn and Red Pepper Salad- from Food & Wine
So just remember, party food does not have to be naughty food! Make sure to always bring something you are looking forward to eating that meets your nutritional goals when you attend a party at someone elses home to be sure you always have yummy options.
Enjoy the holiday!
