I’m too busy.
I’m too tired.
I don’t know where to start.
I will fail so I should not even try.
Honestly, does that sound familiar?
It’s so easy to fill our heads with excuses and negative thoughts.
Sometimes when we are so used to being unhappy, its’ hard to snap out of it and see the opportunity to change.
The thing about saying we CAN'T do something
is that its not always the truth
Those same statements could easily say:
I choose not to make time for it
I choose to use my energy elsewhere
I am not willing to learn something new
I don’t believe in myself
I challenge you to Reach for the Sunshine
Look forward instead of Back
Be kind to yourself
Take care of yourself
and start swapping out words like
with I CAN
Thinking positive doesn’t remove the barriers,
but it helps you find away around them.
Think about what is really stopping you,
We all have something in the way.
Identifying what blocks our forward progress is the first step
in shoving it to the side and pushing forward.
Sometimes a shift in our attitude is all it takes.
Be your loudest cheerleader instead of your own most vicious critic.
Instead of negative self talk,
use positivity and
look for opportunities instead of excuses.
Here are some examples of what I mean:
Instead of saying you are too busy, try to find small windows of time that you could use differently. For example, could you trade some time on Facebook and take a walk instead?
Are you exhausted after a long day and just want to relax? Sign up for a yoga class that can help you decompress after a long day but feed your body and muscles at the same time, or use exercise in place of TV as your ‘me’ time.
If you are overwhelmed and feeling like you don’t know how to even begin, find a buddy to be your workout partner, or a friend to walk or run with. Or hire a trainer or join a group and let an expert help you learn what to do and have fun at the same time.
If you think you can’t or assume you will fail, I’m here to say you can and you won’t.
But it’s not my voice that matters. It’s yours.
Starting is half the battle, if you are so afraid to fail that you never try you prevent yourself from even having the chance at success.
The only way to guarantee failure is to never even try.
You can do it.
You are worth it.
Whatever you want is within reach, but no one can grab it for you.
Set a goal, take the time to plan your attack and than go for it!
