root SUP & Fitness offers a wide variety of fitness opportunities for all ages and abilities from our location in Shepherd's Old Field Market in downtown Leonardtown, MD. Classes include rootCamp, Yoga, and Aerial Yoga. We also be offer personal and group training, as well as hosting special events and workshops! Reserve and pay for classes online through our MINDBODY App. Private groups and events are by appointment only. Please contact us to find out more.

Land Classes
root n rise rootcamp
This early morning rootcamp is designed to wake you up and set you up for a great day! Class is HIIT style and includes strength and core training as well as some cardio thrown in. Please sign up by 8pm the night before! If you cancel after 8pm or are a No Show you will be charged the full amount of the class (even if you are on an Unlimited Contract). Stay committed and go to bed early! We have showers so you'll be out by 6:25am at the latest!
Strength & Balance
Work on the strength of your core to help improve your balance! This class is for all levels! From beginning to balance post-physical therapy, all the way up to the elite athlete looking to improve body awareness and joint integrity. Everyone can benefit from improved core strength and more efficient balance!
This class will help you increase your overall mobility! Each class includes dynamic stretching, yoga poses, joint mobilization, and self-myofascial release. Core activation and strengthening exercises will also be offered! These activities will be provided in a variety of ways - circuits, individualized exercise, etc
Pilates
Mat Pilates is a low impact, yet serious strength workout that helps to ease low back pain, reduce body fat, improve flexibility and support mental well-being. Each series of exercises works to balance all muscle groups' strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the CORE muscles. In order to feel successful, modifications are encouraged for beginners or those with limitations.
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) in a circuit style format combining strength and core exercises! Uses bodyweight and a variety of equipment!
40min of strength/cardio based moves using a variety of equipment (TRX, BOSU balls, dumbells, medicine balls, etc). Be prepared to sweat and burn a ton of calories!!! 10-15min of stretches designed to nourish and loosen up your body.
Yoga
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is often referred as a”The Quiet Practice”. Poses are floor based, relaxed, passive and held for several minutes. It provides unique opportunity to release deeply held tension, free stagnant or blocked energy and cultivate a peaceful quality of mind. Please bring your own mat and a blanket or towel.
Yang and Yin
This 60 min class consists of two contrasting yoga practices. The first half of your practice will be Yang which consists of moving quickly and repetitively through dynamic and energetic postures. The emphasis is on increasing strength and mobility. The second half of your practice will be Yin which consists of moving slowly on the mat with floor-based and passive poses. The emphasis is on smoothing fascia and improving energy flow as well as inviting personal reflection and calming of the mind. This class will move you and soothe you! Please bring your own mat as well as a pillow and/or blanket to use as props.
Aerial Yoga
Intro to Aerial
Have you been curious about Aerial? Come out for a fun intro class that shows you the basics so you will be prepared for any of our other Aerial Classes!
Learn the benefits of the hammocks and "feel" the difference in traditional yoga poses & how they transfer to the fabric. If you feel ready, you may even play with some easy tricks to get you flying high!
Aerial Yoga
Aerial yoga uses a hammock to support your body weight to assist students to perform anti-gravity postures allowing for greater flexibility and more freedom of movement to offer deeper and more accessible stretches. Aerial yoga can be a combination of traditional yoga asanas, inversions and strength moves always ending in a delightful cocoon-like savasana. This rewarding class is both exciting and calming offering plenty of modifications.
Grit 'n Grace Aerial
This class is great for all fitness levels! Combine strength training and aerial yoga to make a fun, total body workout! Improve your balance, strength, and flexibility using the aerial hammocks. Modifications/Options are always offered! For the safety of the hammocks, please be mindful of jewelry (rings/bracelets), zippers, etc that may get caught on and/or rip the fabric.
Please bring your own water bottle and towel to class.
Please arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to class start time.
